Australia’s Northern Star Resources (ASX:NST) is expanding overseas by acquiring Sumitomo Metal Mining Co and Sumitomo Corp’s Pogo underground gold mine in Alaska for $260 million.
Pogo, located southeast of Fairbanks city, is currently the eight largest gold mine in the US. It has produced 3.8 million ounces of gold over the past 12 years at an average mine grade of 13.6 grams per tonne.

Finally a beautiful sunny day with minimal clouds, and most of the roads fixed up, I decided to take a shopping trip to our warehouse outlet store. It’s in Kona, on the other side of the BIG island, and the trip is 100 miles each way over ‘the saddle’… the pass between Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea, our two big mountains. So I don’t do it very often.
Today it hit home when I stopped at the park at the top and read the GPS to find my elevation was 6800 ft above sea level…. that I left an hour before. Egads! That’s higher than ‘mile high’ Denver!
Coming home with a car heavy with cases of beverage and food and household supplies is real fun when you start climbing the 8% grade. You find out just how good your car power and mechanics are. The ominous sign says ‘No Services-50 miles’.

Speaking of Donald jr, a close friend has caped his sheep from last year’s hunt, on the down low.
He up in the Yukon just last week. No not the hookers on Portage and Main. Yuke On every corner…

At least other countries are buying gold. The US can’t hold down the price forever.

Quite honestly; it does’t surprise me at all. The global economy is completely falling apart, and the pressure on Gold/Silver will only tighten more. For lack of a better analogy, I like to think of the global economy like a patient that is severely bleeding and the only way to save the patient is to apply a tourniquet. That tourniquet cannot be released or else the patient dies.

Potholes of disaster everywhere. Each with a bouncing betty of ruin!
And closer to home … it would be nice not to own shares in companies which have operations in some of the EM countries such as Turkey or Argentina etc.

Just read your nightmare. You can pay for your car registration anytime so not to get a late fee without the smog but won’t get your tags until u get the smog. You should automatically get them once it’s done. I know a gas station that also give u tags if you haven’t pre paid but cost more to save you having to go to the DMV. That way you don’t have to feel rushed.
For older cars they have something you can buy called “guaranteed to pass.” You put it in a full gas tank and run it through to about empty. Once empty fill it up again with good gas like premium from Chevron then get the smog done. I heard it works good plus has a guarantee lol

Turkey’s currency continues its weakening trend, as the fiat goes the route of Venezuelan Bolivar, pushing the Lira another 3% lower as their inflation increases in double digits causing financial calamity within its borders . Another “Emerging Market” in failure is Tunisia with its accumulated foreign debt and its currency, the Dinar collapsing as well. How many more of “emerging markets” have to fail before the world catches on to the fact the fiat game has reached its conclusions?
****************************************************************
IPSO–the U.S.–Europe—and China seem impervious to this developing EM crisis–but will it be the catalyst for a fall collapse like in 2008? Any one got any 100 year bonds?
******************************************************************
Emerging markets/G7 FX volatility ratio just hit its all-time record high – higher even than 2008 and the global financial crisis. Could there be a much larger storm brewing just not in Argentina?
And finally, just in case you forgot, Argentina (the most-defaulting nation in world history) issued a 100-year bond last year (and it was over-subscribed). Things are not going so well for those ‘reaching’ for that yield…
