Just a note to show how decrepit and ephemeral the enthusiasm for stocks is.
So far in October, the S&P 500 has booked 13 losing days, including October 10, when the index dropped 3.3%, and October 24, when it dropped 3.1%. Then came today, with the feel-good moment of a boisterous 1.9% gain. And then came after-hours trading, and nearly everything went to heck, particularly the FANGMAN stocks that weigh so heavily on the index with their $4-trillion market cap. And Friday morning looks already ugly. All of the FANGMAN stocks were in the red in late trading:
Blow the doors off of earnings. Produces record amount of cars. Comes out with a semi truck that’s totally revolutionary. Gearbox is guaranteed to last 1 million miles. New models are announced. His Factory is sped up. His batteries come down in price. He works on crazy s*** like the bfr. He digs tunnels and figures out the hyperloop without anyone’s help. He submits patents that rethink how basic things work. He has great thoughts on AI. He smokes dubes in front of people. He breaks the mold. He’s a technologist. His stock goes from 260 to 332 in a few short days. While the Press just sits around and lies about him and his accomplishments. He is an interrupter and a shape shifter. I still think Commodities aren’t worth messing with when you have crazy tech socks and people like Elon getting it done. For all I know we could remain in a 10-year rut to go for getting out of PM purgatory
The Aden sisters in their latest report, reminded people that we have not seen a mania phase in the SM, which all true bulls have as a blow off top…action like this will get the maniacs frothing at the mouth.
As for the PM’s I fail to see who is selling, as most holders will take their shares into their graves, so it has to be Algo’s and the scum, neither of whom give a damn about relative price or value etc.
I don’t understand it either although Trump has been great for twitter.
I don’t understand the magnitude of this slaughter in the pm shares, but the GG earnings were horrible. What they did say was that Q4 was going to be a lot better though.

Echo, yep they can take something that could be used for good like disabled with limited movement or blind and turn it into a snoop machine. No different then when Russians put microphones in people room. People think well I’m not doing anything wrong, till they interrogate their kids. People could say something they don’t mean like I’m gonna kill him or her and next have the swatt team busting down their door.
I bet after this bomb scare they have NSA checking all phones computers and listening devices.
I hope who ever delivered a package didn’t bring their cell phone with them.

It’s amazing to me that those COT’s were only good for a $30 rally over a 5-6 week period. If it had been the other way around, gold would be under $1K

NOW do u see there was no reason to buy any gold call options with more than 2 days…nor buy any close to the money–either gold makes a big move or it doesn’t…so far there isn’t even a bid on my calls…actually, to me, this action looks classic bearish…in so far that stocks can just barely rally…europe the same deal–it totally ignored the u.s and asia…but it took government intervention…which didn’t do much except keep euro indexes nominally green…they musta been pretty scared as DB made a new low yesterday…ok…initial pullback, now some buying coming in as u.s. managers get some confidence…so many bargains around…
Miraculously we have buying in the SM and Dollar, while PM’s get hit…au down $ 10 from 1239 to 1229 and the S&P Rallies 15 full points…the scum never rest.
It looked like a nice day to go up the hill to the volcano summit at 4,000 ft elevation today. The Hawaii Volcanoes National Park has reOpened, although some areas near the crater are still closed. They won’t let you get near where the ground is cracking.
My annual pass has expired, so I used this opportunity to buy the “Senior Lifetime” pass good for any national park. Not that I travel around a lot, but we have two parks on this island and I will never have to pay another fee.
The Volcano House hotel at the visitor center has reOpened, and from the glass lobby windows you can see the ‘new and improved’ Halemaumau crater. Pictures do not do it justice. Especially if one knows what this scene looked like just one year ago, the view is just stunning in reality. Just mind boggling to see how much mass collapsed and how deep into the crater.
The volcano is quiet now… for the first time since 1983. No lava is visible anywhere, and sulfur dioxide emissions are at the lowest level on record. It seems to have reached a stable equilibrium after emptying a lot of the magma chamber below the summit. Now begins the slow, laborious process of refilling the magma from below…. deep in the earth. The upwelling is very slow, and my prediction is that it will take many years to reflate the summit area before lava outflow is seen again. I may not see active lava here again in my lifetime… but we shall see.
There is NO artificial intelligence in these devices… only the illusion of it. Requests are relayed back to a live human for responses. Read the fine print. And so someone, anyone, back at ‘headquarters’ can listen in thru your ‘Echo’ at any time. And now the insidious nature is exposed as it is caught asking a child about guns in the home. Big Brother is listening.
