I’m not back on the air yet since we moved down the street here in Alabama I but look forward to (creating and) earning this once-in-a-lifetime elusive amateur radio operator challenge award and sending out official documents to other deserving amateur radio operators. de WA1UUV
Maya – I assume that new black lava sand is sharp, brittle and abrasive. What does it feel like to walk in it? I’m ready for that experience now.
Floridagold – CHEERS!
For all you paper-hangers
…and I’m glad to see it go. The volcano has cooled, and I’m guessing the economy will cool in the coming year also.
Took a ride east of Kalapana on Hwy 137. The county has opened the road as gravel across three 30-ft high fingers of jumbled, broken rock A’a lava between MacKenzie State park and the boat ramp at Pohoiki now. Pohoiki bay now has a huge black sand berm and beach that has engulfed the boat ramp, leaving it landlocked. The black sand forms when lava enters the ocean and fractures to sandy bits. The shoreline ocean currents carried it down the shoreline to fill in the bay and boat ramp. This is the view of the NAV marker at the end of the breakwater… now embedded in sand. You can see the isolated pond and boat dock behind the berm. Where I am standing was once open water of the bay.
In that hole in the trees just left of center you can see the black line of lava that is 30 ft high. The lava came from Kapoho down the shoreline as far as the edge of this park and stopped here. Just the other side of the trees is lava for several miles to the NE.

Toronto-based Yamana Gold Inc. posted a negative 73 per cent total shareholder return in the past five years — the worst among 17 large companies analyzed in a report released Monday by gold sector investors.
The report pointed a finger at Peter Marrone, who founded Yamana in 2003, and serves as executive chairman and until recently chief executive. The ratio of his ownership stake in his company as compared to his compensation during the past five years was around 0.1, lowest among all executives analyzed.
It marks the inaugural report by the Shareholders Gold Council, which was formed earlier this year with backing from U.S. billionaire John Paulson and other large investors who are upset with gold miners’ share prices that have largely underperformed the price of gold.
Shares looking good all of a sudden. Maybe the worm has really turned?
Go figure
It will be interesting to see how the pm complex does if the SM rolls over.
50/50 chance of that IMHO
yeah, the shares pretty much stink, although some of the extremely oversold small caps seem to be holding their own.
I don’t know, the metals are overbought short term, HUI not even approaching 165.
Another year, I guess we’ll see what happens in the next 30 days.
“What can we do to control these markets? I know!! Lets create some giant slush funds. We’ll call them ETF’s (Exchange Traded Funds) We’ll get traders and investors to buy THEM instead of the real shares. We’ll tell them we are TRACKING each ETF but we won’t have any obligation to buy or sell the shares in the ETF’s. All we have to do is TRACK each sector. Then we’ll use all that trader and investor money to make the markets do whatever we want them to do. If we don’t want a sector to go up we’ll short the stocks in that ETF every time a trader buys that ETF. We’ll make the stupid fool traders and investors give us their own money so we can control all the markets. That way the only time a sector will go up is when WE decide for it to go up….and the only time a sector will go down is when WE decide it will go down….. and on top of all that we’ll CHARGE the stupid traders and investors a management fee for the privilege of letting us screw them while we get rich”.
DOESN’T ANYBODY GET IT???????????
The shares have yet to confirm the move up in the metals, have to think we need to see that
That is what worries me……but Richard Russell always said the PM bull rises with the least No of longs on board….
Here they come.
The one thing you can always count on with pm’s is that even the slightest bit of overbought will be sold.
The shares have yet to confirm the move up in the metals, have to think we need to see that but WTFDIK??
The Return Of Louis XVI: Emmanuel Macron, Roi De L’Ancien Regime

The author is spot on the Gilet’s are not going away, apparently they want Swiss style Referenda, which when they get them, will be the end of the EU !!!!!!!
Gold down for the first year in the last three. Not by much but a few bucks anyway.
GLD has an RSI at 70 and a little extended above the 200 dma, I guess we could get to $123-124, but I pullback could be imminent.
WTFDIK??
It is an insanely complicated task to ask the spacecraft to do. The radio link takes over 6-1/2 hours to get there, and likewise for a return reply. Complicated moves must be calculated and uploaded and stored well in advance. And that weak radio link is only capable of about 1000 bits per second, so data takes a LOOONG time to load. They said that after the flyby, the data stored on the craft will take until mid-2020 to completely download. But we’re hoping for some ‘cherry-picked’ early image downloads.
They take great care in those pictures including getting them sent back incase something happens to the craft.
Sending messages to some of these crafts could take years to get to it or sent back.
They’re making gains in space travel too. Making it more manageable in preventing the negative effect of space in zero gravity with diet and exercise with special equipment.
The New Horizons spacecraft… the one that brought us those spectacular images of Pluto… will have another encounter on New Year’s day. This will be with a Kuiper Belt object named Ultima Thule, and this is the farthest object ever explored. Watch for images coming soon.
