first hand knowledge ..at UVA my son had straight A’s in every class for 4 years and graduated second in his class of 2600 students with a degree in Physics .He told me one time about how one class was going to have a tough class on mathematics and calculus ,but the professor told them it would be graded on a curve to see just how much they knew and to test the best of them .! Fair enough they thought…if you scored 80 ,your grade might be 100 on a curve…Well what happened was he scored 100 and most of them got grades of 80 or less on the curve…!
WE l l they were about to lynch him after that experiment ..!
The other top students were all asians ,he was the only white guy in Physics department …
Thats where our colleges are today..That was thirty some years ago .today its even worse..
He went on to get a PHD in Physics at U Cal in San Diego where he was the only white guy in the physics Electrical Engineering dept. I dont say this to bragg ,but to illustrate that grading on a curve can cause some students to threaten others as happened to him..He had real threats against him..
