Gold Price: It’s All About Real Rates Not The Dollar

Posted by Richard640 @ 23:17 on October 7, 2019
October 7, 2019

The Federal Reserve’s recent need to supply $100’s of billions in new credit for the overnight repo market underscores the condition of dollar scarcity in the global financial system. This dearth of dollars and its concomitant strength has left most market watchers baffled.

Since 2008, the Fed has printed $3.8 trillion (with a “T”) of new dollars in an effort to weaken the currency and boost asset prices–one would then think the world should now be awash in dollar liquidity. Yet, surprisingly, there is still an insatiable demand for the greenback, leading many to wonder what is causing its strength.  And importantly for precious metals investors, there is a need to understand why this dreaded dollar strength has not served to undermine the bull market for gold.

Luongo: Are These The Five Tweets That Change The World?

…in context of the last few days these five tweets are a bombshell which blows open the possibilities of a much different future foreign policy from the U.S. if Trump survives this ridiculous push to impeach him…

R6 – that’s why Trump is being impeached

By getting out of the endless wars he won’t be alienating his base, he’ll be doing what he said he would do.

Unfortunately, he’ll be alienating guys like Graham and Romney who he needs in the Senate to protect him.

Good for Trump. Get the hell out of there.

Looks like they brought out some China news to get the algo’s fired up. So ridiculous.

Trump: “I Will Totally Destroy” The Turkish Economy If Erdogan Breaks Promises In Syria

‘No longer in the area’: US troops will neither help nor hamper Turkey’s cross-border operation in Syria

I’m glad we’re getting out of Syria but it’s a shame we are not able to protect our allies the Kurds from this coming Turkish incursion. Erdogan wants to put a feather in his cap to help his political strength. Personally I hope he bites off more than he can chew.

I thought their production report was pretty good. Can’t explain the sell off … “sell the news” or just weak with the rest of the PM shares. I dunno.

I’m not really convinced that martial law is either desirable or something happening in the near future. Hopefully there will be no need for it. We’ll see.

  1. There is a glut of cash out there and investors are looking for the lottery ticket to turn that cash into gold vs the alternative (.e.g., negative rates or weak global economy). Hence, Softbank came to the fill in that gap. The bubble will burst but will build up again in a few year ( or it may never burst now) so long the cash is abundantly available.

Excellent, always worth my time. Thank you.

When Softbank re-invests at inflated values – it mark’s up the book value of it’s holdings – but I don’t understand why that is a profit. A profit occurs if they sell the shares, yes? If they had a magnificent profit from the $47B valuation of WeWork would they not have had a magnificent tax bill for all the profit they ‘earned’?

Now we can understand how a Hitler might arise to save a country–Germany was being torn apart by the commies–there were commie [leftist]  and conservative [right wing] rioting in the streets–had he not obsessed about the jews and wars, he could have been a great leader…a “man on a white horse”–like Trump arose here–if he fails then martial law will be required…

War drums..Anyone with eyes in his head can see that Iran is getting stronger,” said Netanyahu.

Posted by Richard640 @ 10:23 on October 7, 2019
In a cabinet meeting on Sunday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu proposed a massive air defense system to defend against Iranian attacks, especially cruise missiles like those used in attacks on a Saudi Arabian oil facility last month, according to KAN.
Last month, cruise missiles and explosive drones were used in an attack on two plants at the heart of Saudi Arabia’s oil industry, including the world’s biggest petroleum processing facility.
The United States, Saudi Arabia, Britain, France and Germany have publicly blamed the attack on Iran, which denies involvement in the strike.
The attacks on the two facilities cut Saudi Arabia’s crude oil supply by around 5.7 million barrels per day, or about 50% of its output.
The plan proposed by Netanyahu will cost billions of shekels. Some of the funds for the project won’t be allocated officially until after a government is formed, assuming that there aren’t third elections.
The funds for the project will either come from cuts within the security establishment or from funds cut from social services. According to KAN, it’s more likely that the funds will be taken from social services.
Cabinet members were only informed on Saturday evening that the cabinet would meet on Sunday, according to Channel 12.
Reports of an attempt to assassinate the commander of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) Quds force Qasem Soleimani may be used as an excuse to launch an attack against Israel.
The Iranian government claimed on Thursday that it had foiled an Arab-Israeli plot to assassinate Soleimani.
Hossein Ta’eb, the IRGC’s head of intelligence, said that three suspects in the alleged plot were arrested, Iran’s Tasnim News Agency reported.
The meeting was called in the wake of comments by the prime minister at the swearing in of the 22nd Knesset on Thursday.
“Today, we are facing a huge security challenge, which has grown with each passing week and has intensified over the last two months… Anyone with eyes in his head can see that Iran is getting stronger,” said Netanyahu.

The open borders global elites must repress the truth . Border crashers care not for the moral structure of the country they invade . They bring their own attitudes toward laws , so lawlessness increases , but , as in Sweden , the government refuses to collect and compile the data , obfuscating what is evident at the street level .

Seems to be the crux of the repo problems

Posted by ipso facto @ 9:01 on October 7, 2019

“In essence, what the repo issue is telling us is that the Fed cannot make magic. The central planners believed the Fed could create just the right inflation, manage the curve while remaining behind it, provide enough liquidity but not too much while nudging investors to longer-term securities. Basically, the repo crisis -because it is a crisis- is telling us that liquidity providers are aware that the price of money, the assets used as collateral and the borrowers’ ability to repay are all artificially manipulated. That the safe asset is not as safe into a recession or global slowdown, that the price of money set by the Fed is incoherent with the reality of the risk and inflation in the economy, and that the liquidity providers cannot accept any more expensive “safe” assets even at higher rates because the rates are not close to enough, the asset is not even close to be safe and the debt and risk accumulated in other positions in their portfolio is too high and rising.”

Who’s Afraid Of Scandinavia’s Crime Statistics?

As for the nationality of the criminal migrants, Berlingske Tidende reported:

“At the top of the list are male Lebanese who, as far as [their] descendants are concerned, are almost four times as criminal as average men, when [the figures are] adjusted for age. [That is] sharply followed by male descendants from Somalia, Morocco and Syria. The violence index is 351 for descendants from non-western countries. They are 3.5 times more violent than the population as a whole. Descendants from Lebanon have an index of violent crimes of 668 when corrected for age.”

Unless Scandinavian political leaders begin actively to engage with the facts that these statistics describe, the problems are only going to become more intractable — to the point where they might not be solvable at all.
