Now here’s the real scandal of the near trillion dollars that governments have stolen from taxpayers to fund climate change hysteria and research. By the industry’s own admission there has been almost no progress worldwide in actually combatting climate change.

I bought the breakout today. It settled under where I got in but it still looks like a breakaway gap and could run significantly higher.

Natural gas is at historical lows so it has room to run.

Grains are languishing while trading through the corn and bean harvest.

That is something. The ecosystem is amazing but am concerned about pollution. That and deforestation. I believe those things can affect the ecosystems ability to cleans the air and water when we’re polluting it and cutting down trees for hamburgers and palm oil. Not only that it’s killing off the habitat of other living creatures in both land and sea.
They don’t seem to talk about that because apparently they’re so money in it.

Gold/Oil is back at the upper end of its long-term range again…

In the early 1980’s I developed accurate models of gas solubility in water , and have maintained ever since that the causality between temperature and atmospheric CO2 was the opposite of what the AGW types were claiming . Nature has intended that as winter approaches , leaves fall , rain increases , and falling from higher and cooler elevations , absorbs the excess CO2 , and sequesters it in rivers and lakes until the spring , when the sun’s warmth releases it back into the atmosphere just as budding foliage needs it .

Personally , I believe in an infinitely wise Creator ‘designing’ this , but that is immaterial to the conceptual argument .

I’m aware of rebar for reinforcement but don’t understand the safety contents in building something that big. I would have no clue how safe it is. I traveled with a old friend and VN vet through Mexico once. We got off the tourist trail and hopped a bus. He said oh man talking about some building that was I’m the making. We were deep in Mexico past Porte Vallarta. I said is that bad and he said yeah. He is a contractor.
In California they have stricter building codes now and heard they stopped making three story houses.
As far a porches outside they can go down fast. Also brick although I’ve seen some brick bringing reinforced with rebar some how. It goes down fast. Real fast.
Maybe I’d be good at is if I learned back then. Our house in Sylmar as a teen I helped build part of a brick and rod iron fencing around the property. I noticed that the part I built was still standing but most of the rest was a mess of bricks on the ground.
Wood bend but like the doorways some snapped in half because we learned so far back and forth even that didn’t hold. You could hear the wood cracking I’m the walls. I don’t know if I’d want to live in a cement building esp with a cement roof. I guess it’s sort of a post traumatic thing, same when I see brick although like brick, good insulation too less it’s ok the outside not build in it.
That’s what killed the veterans in Sylmar. The brick building collapsed and roofs fell down on them.

Concrete is very strong in compression (squeezed) but weak in tension (pulled), so they build with a series of steel rebar reinforced columns and beams , and maintain compression in the columns with heavy poured concrete floors above . I have been in four quakes here , I think the strongest was a 6.8 or 7.0 , and was amazed to watch the columns swaying without so much as a crack forming . People do try to get outside , though , and the most common roofing material is overlapping , corrugated , mesh reinforced concrete slabs ( ~ 1.5 m.by 3 m. ?) wired to steel beams below . Also clay tiles , interlocking and overlapping held in place by gravity , but they can be a projectile hazard during quakes for those who go to the streets .
It is a joke here that one always sleeps in PJ’s in case of a quake forcing evacuation to the street during the night .

In California they’ve said for years the big one “ Quake” can happen anytime. Good to keep on the back of your mind and after being in the Sylmar Quake which one hadn’t happened in so long no one was even thinking about a Quake. Since then it’s been scare tactics ever since. I remember hospitals would have meetings on quakes. I’d have to correct them being in one. Like standing in a door way. If your by the front door get the H out. I saw doorways split in half and if you were standing there you would of been impaled.
Best to get next to something really heavy but somethings like a bed not under it. For one it moves around two you could be crushed.
If you noticed when something falls on something heavy usually there’s a space under it next to it. I noticed when cars were crushed under Fwys or cement parking lots there was space next to the front tire thanks to the front tire and engine.
No mater where you are something could happen.
Like I mentioned these hooplas cause people more trouble than it’s worth.

Protesters storm Iranian consulate & raise Iraqi flag, burn tires & hurl Molotov cocktails in Karbala

Dozens of Iraqi protesters attacked the Iranian consulate in the Shia holy city of Karbala on Sunday night, scaling the walls of the building, taking down an Iranian flag and replacing it with one of Iraq.

Footage from the scene shows protesters burning tires and throwing Molotov cocktails around the building. According to reports, police fired live ammunition in an attempt to disperse the crowds. Protesters can be seen showing empty bullet casings in the video. Medics claim three protesters were killed in the incident.

Two things come to mind from watching  that video. One is that each of these homeless people made a choice somewhere along the way to create the existence they now lead…… and two, it seems there is a Higher Power who gives us guidance as we go through this life. For me Seattle was a stepping stone to Alaska which was a stepping stone to British Columbia where I finally found “home” and a wonderful life for the past 45+ years. Before Seattle was a long line of successful opportunities, both business and personal, that I seemed to have been guided through to get to where I am today. But it was never a “free Ride”. I was fortunate to have the ability to “listen” to that Higher Power, and that is why I know that by  living a Silverngold life I will always be a winner.

I almost got a job there at KOMO TV in 2008.  I kinda saw the economic downturn coming, and I was a little amazed they were recruiting me so heavily.   After checking it out and agreeing on a payscale with the engineering manager, I went back home to Honolulu and packed up my belongings while waiting for the final offer and employment contract that I expected in a matter of a few weeks.   It never came.

My friend at the station told me later that the engineering manager was let go, and there was a hiring freeze imposed.  Weeks later I had two new co-workers in Honolulu who had been let go by the KOMO news department in Seattle.   Not long afterwards the station was sold to new owners, and my friend also lost his job and moved to Florida. Now I am glad the job fell thru. It would have been a disasterous earlier retirement for me.

I watched Honolulu deteriorate in recent years also with massive homeless problems.  It only got worse as rent prices rose and rose.  I am glad I got out of that crowded urban environment and retired out here to the jungles of the Big Island.  Big cities are not the place to be in a severe economic downturn.
