I am also having a good year. I get stopped out with small losses on a regular basis on my intermediate trades but I make enough on the 30% winners to more than cover the 70% losers.
my longer term trades have been mostly successful, just not nearly enough.
My phiz is still the vast majority of my investments.

i am baffled by the negativity on the site. i have had a very good year with most of the gains from ag and svm. to a lesser extent kl and btg building oversized positions in the silvers.
etcg and gbct also did quite well. i closed most everything over a month ago and have only rebought some particularly ag and svm in smaller positions and those have done well off the recent dip.
my point is there were great opportunities in the pms this year. i also see this period as likely either a wave 2 or at worst a b of an abc. either way great opportunities just ahead.

All gamblers I ever met do it for fun, usually with money they can afford to lose. Look at all the people that “play their numbers” every day at 7/11 or the gas station or super market. Some habitual gamblers are not actually addicted to gambling. They are addicted to losing, and have a subconscious secrete desire to lose.
Starts before they are three years old. Notice, when they are lucky and win, they keep on playing until they “succeed” and lose. And its not only gambling. They tend to put themselves in other positions to lose, like arguing with a cop, or asking for a date with a girl that far outclasses them and get the NO answer.

If it’s not a China deal he will roll out another fake tax cut for the middle class, or something like that.
It never ends.
Thing is … how stupid are the PM call buyers / stock market put buyers / VIX call buyers to keep playing this losing Kabuki game with the orange man and Kudlow. These guys are not rocket scientists.
So what does that make these speculators.
I still think they must be drinking fluoridated water or something. Or is it the drugs.
They can’t be that stupid without some help.

I think all this China Trade Talk we keep hearing about is a bunch of hype. I’m also very suspicious about all the extremely positive economic news. All the stores and auto dealerships are still loaded with imports. May be a mind over mater situation.
Lots of the jobs are fake artificial “man made” tax absorber jobs doing unneeded unproductive tasks. The Trade Deficits and budget deficits and national debt are not much better either. Many small businesses making little to no profits, and the employees not profitable and not enough tax dollars coming in the way I see it so far.
Gold price action seems to always be a surprise.
Mr. Copper, Captain
Captain – totally agree with your assessment. If we get some sort of positive trade news, DOW will fly and pm’s will take a big hit. Day to day crap shoot right now. Trump plays the SM like a fiddle.
Took a little off the table today in SAND just in case, made enough to hit McDonalds on the way home. Trading account only. Unfortunately, trying to salvage 30% gains on the year but not sure it will happen. Barely up in the retirement which matters most.
and the beat goes on….
Mr.Copper @ 15:53
Nope. PM’s rose today because of weak stocks. If Trump and the Chinese make up again overnight the machines will punish all the PM call buyers today, of which there were plenty I am sure.
See you tomorrow.
Cheers
Re Spot Gold?
Maybe the Spot Gold players are being led by strength in the shares.

Yeah, no clue what’s sparking interest but I’m a bit surprised that we’re getting a little strength. Maybe the punters think $1450 will hold for a day or two.
I obviously made a big mistake flipping my AG and holding my SAND although SAND seems OK for now.
Seems to be all about rates, I don’t know, 10 year down a smidge. I’ll take it.

It’s either that or the buyers are the same sorts who are buying the futures.

Zimbabwe dollar notes issued for first time in a decade
Queues have formed outside banks in Zimbabwe as people hope to get hold of the country’s first Zimbabwe dollar notes to be issued since 2009.
The currency was scrapped a decade ago because of hyperinflation when prices were almost doubling every day.
Zimbabwe’s central bank hopes the new notes will ease a severe cash shortage as the country suffers a deepening economic crisis.
The bank has played down fears that the move will fuel further inflation.
Currently inflation is thought to be about 300%.
Argonaut Gold to hedge gold from El Castillo
After a challenging second quarter at its El Castillo complex in Mexico, Argonaut Gold (TSX: AR) will hedge part of the operation’s remaining life-of-mine production.
The company told shareholders in late August that it had entered into a series of “zero-cost, collar option contracts” covering 145,500 oz. gold through mid-2022 from its El Castillo mine, which along with its San Agustin mine, makes up the El Castillo mining complex, 100 km north of Durango.
Argonaut has set the floor price of the monthly gold collars at US$1,450 per oz., and the ceiling price of the collars from US$1,630 per oz. in the fourth quarter of 2019 to US$1,760 per oz. for the first half of 2022. The company will realize the actual gold sales price if the gold price stays within the range of the collars.
Management said that the “price-protection program” on part of El Castillo’s remaining life-of-mine production would “ensure profitability” and “extend the mine life at our highest-cost operation.”

Exactly. The People’s Republic Of CME (think commi bankers) says ‘no mas’.
They are trying to train us like the Chinese people.
Price fixing is a way of life.

Morning samb
We’re all sort of guessing I suppose to some extent.
The biggest single indicator that keeps me up at night of course is the COT’s. I’ve never seen them be wrong when they’ve been at extreme’s like these.

Not surprising to hear you say that you are beyond Hope. And I suppose the same applies to SnG as well. But I can sympathize with your plight, because latitudinally I find myself beneath Hope. (Hope lat. is about 49.379 north, and I am at about 48.428 north)
