Kirkland Shares Tumble After $3.7 Billion Deal to Buy Detour
(Bloomberg) — Canada’s Kirkland Lake Gold Ltd. headed for the biggest slump in Toronto trading in more than four years after announcing a C$4.9 billion ($3.7 billion) agreement to buy Detour Gold Corp.
With an all-share deal, Kirkland will take advantage of a record stock price to acquire the company, which operates the Detour Lake mine in northeastern Ontario. The agreement values Detour at C$27.50 a share, a 24% premium to the closing price on Friday.

Current conditions
At present, our measures of valuations are breathtakingly extreme, and our measures of market internals are negative and divergent. Yet despite these market extremes, we always have to allow for the possibility that investors will take the speculative bit back in their teeth. An improvement in the uniformity market internals wouldn’t avoid the negative total returns that we project for the S&P 500 over the coming 10-12 years, nor would it reduce the 50-65% downside risk that I continue to view as likely over the completion of this market cycle, but it would defer our immediate near-term downside expectations for the market.
Here and now, we observe a combination of market conditions that has historically been permissive of “trap door” market losses. I use the word “permissive” because market losses are not a certainty. Rather, when we examine points of extreme market risk across history, they share many of the features we observe today.
Put it this way. If a high-risk market peak were a duck, observable market conditions presently include a striking collection of duck-like features, including unfavorable market internals on our measures, extremes in valuations, sentiment and price behavior, along with deteriorating leadership (e.g. new highs vs new lows), credit (e.g. corporate debt, high-yield bonds, leveraged loans), breadth (e.g. advancing vs. declining issues), and participation (e.g. the percentage of stocks in defined uptrends). In hindsight, these spikes in duck-like conditions have often proved to be market tops.

A valid passport is now needed to legally cross the border , so busloads would not work , except to bus them to a remote border area and let them find their own way across . Most homeless have no ID , let alone an expensive passport . I have volunteered to assist some homeless to get their valid ID , to permit them to find a real job , and eventually become legitimate renters .

“I was horrified to see that this guy can go on tv and spew out-and-out LIES about the “product” that he’s selling and get away with it!!! What I am referring to is his selling “1 pound hoard of silver coins”….guaranteed to be in at least “average circulated condition” for $399.95. Ladies and gentlemen….this is an absolute RIPOFF. The direct LIE I am referring to is his suggesting (during the airing) that an example lot of coins he was selling had a numismatic value of around $1580. This is just a boldface lie: pure and simple.
There is absolutely no numismatic value in any of the coins he is selling, save for a few extra bucks for the silver dollar. He stated the coins were only guaranteed to be in “average circulated” condition, which means they are, in reality, “junk silver coins” with no additional value over their silver content. If you want to check out what the actual cost of such a lot should be, check out a HONEST online silver seller….such as Bullion Direct, APMEX, or Provident Precious Metals. Reputable dealers sell 90% silver coins by face value, and as a frame of reference, 1 pound of 90% silver coins has about $18.40 in face value.
Let me demonstrate for you what you should actually be paying (retail) assuming silver at a spot value of $17 per oz: 1 junk silver dollar, retail about $18; $17.40 face value junk silver coins, retail price about $14.50 per $1 face value, total retail price $252. Total reasonable cost RETAIL that you should pay: about $270. The total SPOT VALUE of the silver in the lot is about $223. There is 13.14 ozt silver content per pound of silver coins; 13.14 ozt x $17/ozt = $223. So….bottom line: if he sells all 1000 lbs he claims he’s trying to sell…he is ripping off his buyers for at the very least a tidy sum of about $130,000 total, and actually closer to about $175,000 or so assuming he actually bought his coins at around spot value (most likely). Of course this may all be a lie as well; at this price there is probably no limit to what he actually “can” sell, and thus, how much $$$ he might make in this scam. Are there not laws in place regarding false advertising? If so, clearly this guy should be in jail.”

Places like New York give their homeless ‘deports’ airfare and a few months rent money and ship them off to Hawaii and other places. They land here, discover how expensive it is, and in a few months time now it is Hawaii’s problem.
