Smith & Wesson shareholders just overwhelmingly approved a change in the company’s name, so that on Jan. 1, the gunmaker will instead be called American Outdoor Brands. Since its corporate identity stretches all the way back to 1852

Stock price volatility in Smith & Wesson’s stock price that often follow mass shooting incidents. Over time, by calling itself American Outdoor Brands, Smith & Wesson may be able to disassociate its stock from the gun issue, even if it still primarily generates most of its revenues from their sale.

Since its guns will still be sold under the Smith & Wesson brand, the company shouldn’t lose out with the consumers who matters most to it — gun buyers — and the new corporate identity could open up to it a whole new customer base that won’t necessarily be put off by its relationship with firearms.

Comment: Right after they ass kissed to public and removed Smith  & Wesson from the name the stock kept trending down, to $6 recently, and they finally realized how STUPID they were and are changing it back to S&W. I was always a holder of that stock, and after seeing them kiss up to anti gun influence, I lost all respect. And never added any more shares.

Dumped all my recent buys in the pre-market for a small profit after adding to them on the dip yesterday, and then put them back on a few minutes ago.

I still think buying the dip is the way to go in pm’s and we’ll have a good day today and maybe even tomorrow.

USD is weak again, $1700 & $17 are holding up.

Just looks like these corrections will be short and sharp. IMHO and often wrong opinion. 🙂

The federal government says it is reviewing a Chinese mining company’s proposed $207 million buyout of a struggling gold mining company in Nunavut under the Investment Canada Act, as a high-profile case against a Chinese executive in Canada reaches a crucial point.

Shandong Gold Mining Co. Ltd., a Chinese state-owned enterprise that’s listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange, announced earlier this month it would purchase Toronto-based TMAC Resources Inc., which operates a mine near Cambridge Bay that has been beset by operational challenges.

Ottawa declined to provide any details on why it is scrutinizing the TMAC buyout, but lawyers who practise in this area said the government can easily invoke national security concerns amid rising political tensions with China. Indeed, on April 18, the government said that as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, it would subject all investments by state-owned enterprises, such as Shandong, to “enhanced scrutiny.”
