I know but we’re used to it. Not the rolling power outs though and usually the hottest part of the day. Food going bad doesn’t help either. Yeah way things are going a generator is a good idea especially for oxygen dependent. Some system have battery back ups but they can fail and only last so long on battery.

Pretty darn dangerous with that kind of heat for the very young and very old and those on oxygen if the power goes out. Generators a great idea.
You’d think a prosperous country like ourselves would have enough electrical capacity for a heat spell!

We’re in three digit all next week. Expected to be 106-8 then move to 110 by Monday.
Not warning people who can buy or make ice or get generators ready especially for those on oxygen dependent machines including children is careless.
This is what happens in 3rd World countries
Two Million Californians Go Dark and the Heat Is Just Beginning
(Bloomberg) — As many as two million Californians were plunged into darkness over the course of four hours late Friday in the first rolling blackouts to hit the state since the 2001 energy crisis.

Buygold @ 7:09 re: buying Barrick
Good luck! They’re a lot bigger than the stocks I buy … and a lot safer I guess. I’m still sore at them for their forward sales and manipulations that helped keep the the price of gold down some years back. They eventually paid a heavy price for their shenanigans.
Buffet used to ridicule gold. A Buffet quote:
“(Gold) gets dug out of the ground in Africa, or someplace. Then we melt it down, dig another hole, bury it again and pay people to stand around guarding it. It has no utility. Anyone watching from Mars would be scratching their head.”
… and now he’s buying gold miners. The worm has turned!
Food stores
are raising prices Kroger raised prices and inventory got so stagnant I had to return two items in one week .A jar of Sauerkraut that was so moldy it made me sick to look at it .not obvious until I opened it…A 5 lb bag of Onions they recalled due to Salmonella.
Switched to a new Publix store nearby ..everything was so clean…so far !A can of soup went from 1.50 to 1.99 at Kroger and the shelf was so full it looked like the public refused to pay..not a can missing from the stack…..When I was in the food business I always watched the turnover first ..thats how freshness happens ..its not from advertising…I dont eat out anymore ,but the first thing I always looked for ..a busy place is always faster turnover ,fresher food. “Ya better watch use by dates “its going to get more importment “..My wife wanted a German chocolate cake ,sold as Half a cake until I told her..when they sell half a cake ..they change the use by date to the day they cut it in half….If it dont sell, cut it in half and they can re date it ! UGH !

I’ve been out of Barrick for a bit, but I’ll be getting back in. Color me stupid but the guy just doesn’t have too many stocks he buys that go down. Probably because he has a slew of managers that follow his bets.
