I love a forest! 🙂

Plenty smokey here too. I think all the western states and parts of Canada are effed with the smoke. Gross here the last 2 days.

FWIW, IMO Telus and Bell can go pound salt! They have been installing 5G systems across Canada under cover of the Covid-19 bullshit and lockdowns without approval of Canadians or Canadian Government, and without consideration for the harmful radiation effects of 5G systems, so the loss is of their own making.

Exclusive: Canada looks set for a fight over C$1 billion compensation for Huawei gear

OTTAWA (Reuters) – Canada is signaling it might not compensate major telecommunications providers if the federal government bans equipment made by China’s Huawei from 5G networks, setting up a potential fight over a bill that could hit C$1 billion ($758 million).

Canada, under pressure from the United States to ban Huawei Technologies Co Ltd gear on security grounds, is studying whether to allow the firm into the country’s next-generation 5G networks.

If Ottawa does announce a formal ban, the affected companies have made clear they want compensation for tearing out their existing Huawei gear, said two sources close to the matter.

But the Liberal government, already pressing wireless providers to cut what it says are excessively high bills, seems less convinced.

“I’m not sure there is a solid legal case that we would have to compensate for making a proper national security decision,” said a government source who requested anonymity given the sensitivity of the situation. Federal politicians, said the source, also had to worry about “the public perception of handing over a billion dollars or more to very large companies.”

Ottawa has spent almost two years studying whether to allow Huawei into 5G networks and in June, with no sign of a decision coming any time soon, impatient Canadian providers took matters into their own hands.

Bell Canada and Telus Corp said they would partner with Ericsson and Nokia Oyj, even though they use Huawei in their 4G networks.

Technical experts say it is hard to marry one company’s 5G equipment with 4G gear from another provider. This effectively means the decision to go with Ericsson would eventually force Telus and Bell to remove the Chinese firm’s 4G equipment.

Bell and Telus do not have to act immediately, since a crucial auction of spectrum needed for 5G networks will not happen until June 2021.

In a February 2019 filing, Telus said a ban without compensation could increase the cost of its 5G network deployment and make services more expensive for consumers.

Telus did not respond to a query as to whether it still felt the same way about compensation. Bell did not respond to a request for comment.

Scotiabank analysts said on June 2 it would cost Bell a total of between C$300 million and $350 million over three to five years to strip out Huawei gear. At the same time, BMO estimated Telus had roughly double the exposure than that of Bell.

In March, U.S. President Donald Trump signed a bill to provide $1 billion to help small providers replace equipment made by Huawei and Chinese firm ZTE.

Canada’s government is on track to run up the highest budget deficit since World War Two as it tackles the coronavirus outbreak and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will on Sept 23 outline major measures to revive the economy.

“We obviously want to spend money on things we feel are going to grow the economy rather than on something like that (compensation),” said the government source.

One person directly familiar with the file took a more jaundiced view, noting that while Britain had told firms to remove their Huawei equipment, it had given them until 2027.

The person said this also happened to be the time when the gear would become obsolete and require replacement.

“I don’t think the thinking in the Canadian government is dissimilar with respect to that question,” said the person.

The office of Canada Innovation Minister Navdeep Bains – which will announce the decision on Huawei and 5G – said it would be premature to discuss future actions.

re: The shootings and burnings. Sure seems like a lot of the problems can be laid at the feet of the democratic mayors. A revolving door exists for the rioters and looters and so the same things are happening over and over.

i agree all those BLM people who were blocking the hospital should have all been arrested. Do they really think the world can exist without cops? There’s a word for that …. Anarchy!

You think this could only happen In California?

Lol I know what you mean. It’s bad enough to when you wash your car and rains a couple days later. Now it’s raining ashes.
Nitrogen and phosphorus, okay. It will be labeled Antifa/ BLM. Might be a little lumpy though. You can have it. Just pay shipping.

Ipso and Goldie, Hey, don’t be so mean spirited to those arsonists and BLM rioters. They have a good use too IMO.

Plant one under every new seedling that has to be planted to reforest the millions of timberland acres that were destroyed by their thoughtless crimes, then plant all the corrupt Swamp Creature and NWO politicians too, and now we’r talking at least a few hundred thousand new seedlings that will get off to a good start. Hey, it’s a beginning, and pretty soon we may have millions of Bill Gates vaccine trial volunteers available too!! ZOWIE!! I’m thinkin we may have enough tree planting  fertilizer to do the entire world reforestation project, with some left over!! Now we’re talkin a REAL Green New Deal!

And speaking of fertilizer, thanks for sending Canada all that potash fertilizer we haven’t been able to see through for a few days now, cough, cough, even though I’m pretty sure we didn’t order it. And also, If you don’t mind, please next time send some nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizer too, to help keep our farmland soils well balanced……. and we’d prefer it all coming ground freight in bags rather than your current air delivery system, so we can distribute it ourselves more efficiently.

Thanks, cough, cough

Arsonists, I agree but look at these riots, they’re letting them go. They attacked that kid Kyle for putting one out then tried to light him up too with a Molotov and he shot the sob and then others tried to kill him and they arrested the kid instead. The second amendment is not only for police. The ones who stood off the rioters buildings are still standing. The ones let to the police are not their burnt and thrashed by looters.
I don’t blame the police but the ones ordering them to stand down. They can’t order the citizens to stand down. What message does it sent when they get arrested instead not to mention it just empowers there crazies to get worse. The police and citizens should stand together and would end this BS.

Meanwhile two young police officers were ambushed in LA as another BLM walks up to a car and just shoots them both in critical condition both young one man one woman only 14 months since they were sworn in. The sob is still at large.
To make it worse a bunch of BLM went to the hospital where they were being transported to block the Emergency room.
Why they weren’t all rounded up and arrested??!! Mayors orders??? Remove and charge them any anyone aiding and abetting them. If not they’ll lose support from both parties or take the law in their own hands and they won’t have to worry about arresting them. More people more guns on the right.

Doubtful these talks will go anywhere …
