Back in the late 70’s had a friend who worked at KGMB.  Would tag along with him  as he was a cameraman.  Would cruise the streets with the police scanner on and cover anything that was news worthy.  As compared to today equipment was bulkier.  My job was to handle the lighting.  Know what you mean about hanging around in one spot.  It would drive me nuts.
