Yeah, that’s a terrifying story. I had two doctors working me in the ER, and the female one was extremely helpful and engaging. She talked about how to manage this ‘at home’ as much as possible, but if the outbreaks became too frequent (meaning I’m doing a lousy job with my diet stuff)… she said that elective colon resection of the bad area was a last resort. They take out the bad section and reconnect the colon. It was done like that to my sister’s colon cancer three years ago, and she is fine now. Still… I would rather avoid surgery. My oldest brother is 20 years my senior and brags that he still has “all original parts”. I’d like that award, also.
