I went to Ace hardware yesterday and I see plenty of Copper tubes and solid bars. I pick up a 10 footer, it feels like about 10 lbs, and its $16.99. Figure $17 divide be ten pounds its a $1.70/lb. Probably priced long ago, new old stock?
Well, if you want to have fun? First call your local scrap yard see what they pay for clean, “solid copper” or “tubing”.. Probably about $3/lb.
Bring a bathroom scale and a calculator into store stand on it and see what the bar or tubes weighs and get the pound price. Odds favor you can buy all their copper stuff, and scrap it and make a profit. Or sell it on eBay? Copper rounds are $32/lb or $2/oz. Pre 1982 pennies are $1.40/lb.
Below a 6 foot, NOT 10 foot, bar $133, versus I saw a 10 footer for $17. The whole system is one big distorted mess. Even a lot of the population. LOL.
