Copper to me is a semi precious metal, plus its the only metal other than Gold that has color. Retail Copper prices are extremely higher than COMEX prices. I wonder what form it is in for $4. It can’t be .999 or .995 pure. Scrap Copper $4/lb is probably available turning it in at the junk yard.
.999 fine Copper Rounds $1.99 per ounce $34 per pound. Last year they were $1/oz. $16/lb. So even people buying copper rounds at coin shows doubled their money.

BTW, 140 pre 1982 .995 pure Copper Pennies gleans a pound, only cost $1.40 per pound.
