I had one retired but she was a nut ex law disabled next to me and a active cop on the other side but with this housing boom they both sold. Villages, towns, county, State police federal, rail road, ATF FBI etc etc. Plus all the retired law enforcement still around. The only occasional problem is those drug gang idiots that keep getting caught. It really is a high quality place to live. Especially if you like the water, bay coves inlets ocean. We have canals in back yards, No place like this place anywhere.

My sons neighbor a long time ago had a garage built and it added $700. Probably a lot more today. I know someone that has an empty waterfront lot, 100×100 and a $7800 annual tax bill. Renting out doc space barely covers the taxes.

I have a brother in Ca, taxes are dirt cheap, I know, but they add costs to your gasoline tax. Years ago 1979 I bought a building lot, and paid only $42/yr tax. I sold it soon before the crash in 2008.

Nobody I know lives in NYC. I don’t care about NYC. I was there maybe 10 times in my entire lifetime. I went to the top of the Trade center building and the Empire state building. Its an interesting place, and where you go or live to make lots of money.

I hate to see you get stressed and upset thinking about what its like to live in NYC. I myself wouldn’t live in Ca for free. You should move to Suffolk County NY, you would love it if you can afford it. Many people have a little back yard cottage or separate apartment to rent to help with property taxes.

There are at least ten million people living happy around NYC. Brooklyn Queens etc. Where are you getting your information??? Cancel that subscription. LOL

My old neighborhood, this guy paid $925k 15 years ago and trying to sell now for $925k. Probably $25k tax bill.

Are you serious. Adding a garage would bring that much extra taxes?
Most people here there houses come with a average of two or three car attached garages. Usually only two reading here you have overflow and want more space people might do for awhile they don’t rent garages less there moving.
Did those people live in NYC? I don’t know how you could raise a family there. No where for the kids to play and no yards.
If they have to go anywhere and take the kids that’s got to be a chore. Even if they have a car they have to walk to a garage and get it. If they went shopping they’d have to carry it back and forth. I’d get a wagon or a extra stroller plus with a stroller less likely to get mugged if they think it’s a baby. Lol
I can imagine the nightmare if they got sick or their kids and no car.
