Deere moving some of its jobs to Mexico Ford backed off Ford scrapped a 900 million plant in Ohio to move it to Mexico.
John Deere has announced it will be moving part of its manufacturing operation from Waterloo, Iowa, to a production facility in Mexico no later than 2024.
Deere and Co. (DE-NYSE) confirmed that the Iowa Tractor and Cab Assembly Operations facility will be reorganized, with some new products being made there but cab manufacturing being moved to its Ramos Component Works facility in Mexico.
The company said the decision is being made so that it can “balance workforce needs within the tight labor market.” It says that the move will also “open up floor space” at its Iowa facility for new but undisclosed manufacturing projects. It said that an estimated 250 employees could be affected by the move, depending on ongoing production volumes and employee attrition before the move….
Federal labor statistics indicated that almost 109,000 Americans lost their jobs in 2020 as a result of free trade arrangements. Ford Motor Co. announced last year that it is changing the direction of a new $900 million manufacturing plant originally planned for Avon Lake, Ohio. Ford decided instead to take the manufacturing project to a location in Mexico.
The loss of manufacturing jobs takes a heavy toll on the U.S. economy, as analysis shows that every American manufacturing job supports an additional 7.4 jobs domestically.
Deere and Co.’s stock price closed on Friday at $361.00 per share, up over 2% since announcing the manufacturing relocation to Mexico.

GORO having a monster day on no news that I can see.
I believe in 20 years this is the first time I can remember taking a big loss yesterday and then getting a 150% return on the next day. Usually it is the other way around.
Reminds me of 2000 dot come bust. It took three years to bottom. This recent decline is YTD. Only 6 months so far. The prior roll over peak 2015-2016? Around 18,000 Dow spiked up after Trump started campaigning. Many good years with the Trump rally.
Adjusted for inflation, I use a factor of 20, after the 1970s, the Dow was 1,000, so it should be around 20,000, not $32,000. Gasoline was .25 cents so x20 it should be $5. (it could crash) The houses were $40 k so should be $800 k. (they are behind the curve not keeping up with inflation because wages have not kept up)
Cars were $3000 so should be $60,000. A slice of Pizza was .15 cents, so should be $3.00. Silver was $1, so $20/oz (but can to to $50 easy) Gold was $140 x20 should be $2800/oz. (can over shoot to $3-4k.
Gold is the end game, we are in the right place as far as I’m concerned.
Anyway the energy sector looks good, but for how long?
Well if certain people didn’t care who would.
As far as gun control those horrific shootings in Texas of those children don’t scream gun control they scream gun ownership. It says you better be armed. It screams the like the Florida shooter cops won’t be there to protect you even if they could get there in time. That’s not to mention the left letting violent criminals loose and open borders especially for border towns.
Who cares? Why are you fighting for somebody else’s pet peeve battel?? There must be 25 to 50 special interests groups that are annoyed about something, and want others to get annoyed too. Gun control, Abortion rights, fossil fuel haters, SUV haters, battery car lovers, everybody getting others involved, and we have a nation of unhappy people going crazy. Are they supposed to build rocket ships and sent the garbage to the moon?
It is what it is. Be happy. Focus on something else. I focus on the global economy and financial system, and the true value of things adjusted for inflation, related to the dollar constantly losing value. Re the Gun thing. Maybe you have 10% that love guns and 10% that hate guns. The 10% that hate guns wants the 80% in the middle to agree and use lots of impropaganda. The 10% that LOVE guns NEVER try to get the 80% in the middle to like guns. But the 10% anti plastic group is the same, wants the 80% to join them. The plastic lovers, NEVER try to get the masses to love plastic.
Everyone has their strengths, I know a couple of yours, cars and sheet metal but..
You reminded me of something kinda funny that happened once in California when it comes to not seeing something so it doesn’t exist.
I don’t get involved in things much less a emergency or bothering me but this was a emergency. Fires were starting up years back in southern calif. I saw a fire start up in a neighbors back yard. He and a few neighbors were putting out a fire in the front when I walked up to try to tell there there is a fire and before I could finish they said it’s okay we put it out. They kept interrupting me playing the we the macho we will handle it thing I guess so I finally said something like okay guess you don’t wanna hear about the one that started up in your back yard.
Sunken ships aren’t as bad and make refuge for sea life and diving ops for scuba.
I wouldn’t mind seeing some of these purposely polluting ships becoming homes for sea life provided they’re evacuated first.
should lead to a nice few days of rally. Since it’s pm’s it will probably reverse back down on Monday.
All that pessimism aside, this is exactly what we want to see, and with the USD up 1% and the 10 yr. up 10 bps., and the SM getting crushed, boot makes this a stellar day if it holds up.
Micro plastics everywhere including the water you drink and air you breathe. Right it’s not digested but has been found in fish dorsal muscle , muscles people eat whole and one I eat occasionally , fried “ oysters.
I’ve spent a lot of my life since the 1950s, on Atlantic coast beaches between Jones beach inlet and Fire Island inlet. Gilgo, Cedar, Tobay beach, and many rural areas in between and never saw any garbage. Shipping lanes off shore to NYC 35 miles away. There are sunken wreaks 30 to 60 miles off shore. They attract fish and fishermen. Unfortunately sometimes fishing lines would hook onto a wreck and you would have to cut the line. So yes a lot of tangled plastic lines down there. 50-60 feet down. One wreck was the Texas Tower that topped over in a storm.
Also plastic does not dissolve. They put acid in plastic bottles. In fact one time the dog we had was in the yard having trouble trying to do #2 and rubbing his but on the ground. I took a look and a piece of plastic was sticking out. I grabbed it and pulled it out over a foot long. Must have went in the garbage and ate something that was in that bag. I hear the old plastic turns into tiny pieces, I never saw any myself, and even if the fish ate it, it doesn’t get digested and turn into fish flesh. It just comes out the anus and back into the ocean.
Those scuba divers with the nice photos?? I recently found out people make good money selling photos on Etsy. My son recently got into this. I can imagine some special interest groups pumping a money making agenda would hire and pay for photos to help recruit more “soldiers”.
Right, talking heads were trying to say no inflation while the gas prices going up by the week and then day, then there was inflation, then there will be no recession that the yield numbers flipping meant nothing and flipped back probably while they were selling their stocks and going to cash or short and now new talking heads fearing a recession.
