James Kunstler, as only he can, paints a picture of he Speaker of the House becoming President.
Matches other internet whispers I’ve “heard”.
I think it’s great the US gov is encouraging the mining of rare earth minerals. I think they are also way late in this. Since most of these minerals come from China maybe Joe was just thinking his pals could do well with it. I am sure cynical these days.
It used to be Midas .Here’s a story about reversal or change. Maybe you posted a link I don’t know. USA was using foreign metals but supply chain problems, and a “learning experiences” are promoting domestic production. I think we already started taking the Chips away from China. I only scan for trends, to help predict the future. Personally I believe in freedom. But unfortunately some people have the freedom to screw their own country. Like buying an imported car for example.
Part:
The Defense Production Act (the “DPA”) is intended to ensure that America has the resources, materials and technologies needed for national security. The DPA Title III program is dedicated to ensuring the timely availability of essential domestic industrial resources to support national defense and homeland security requirements now and in the future.
The funding objective of the Technology Investment Agreement, issued by the Air Force Research Laboratory, is to complete environmental and engineering studies necessary to obtain a Final Environmental Impact Statement, a Final Record of Decision, and other ancillary permits to sustain the domestic production of antimony trisulfide capability for defense energetic materials.
Antimony trisulfide is essential to national defense as a key component for munitions yet there is no U.S. mined supply. Perpetua plans to re-establish a domestic supply of the critical mineral antimony as a by-product of one of the highest-grade open pit gold resources in the United States. The DPA funding allows the Company to advance the construction readiness of the Stibnite Gold Project while the Company continues through the ongoing permitting process, led by the United States Forest Service (“USFS”).

I simply see things changing. In reverse. More populism in various countries, as the “natives” start learning things, about how they are being taken advantage of. Like Trump telling us China Europe are screwing us. A few other countries lately rioting about “unfair” elections.
In other words, the only people enjoying unfettered business activity (capitalism) globally across borders are gradually getting flack losing the ability. Self-determination. Cuba threw them out. Iran threw them out. S. Vietnam tossed them. Some day maybe north Korea will throw the outsiders out of S Korea. Gotta watch out for FCX, in Indonesia, sometimes they have problems with the people that belong there and the stock dives.
Nothing stays the same forever. And each country like every house on “Maple Place”, should be self-reliant and independent like each household. Each country should only import resources not available locally. Each country would be better off. and all the corporations that benefitted with globalization will be worse off.
Gold and silver down and a lot of PM shares now turning green.
Foretaste of the future?
I know that you frown on any foreign mining companies being involved in mining but that’s not the way the mining industry works. Mining companies have a lot of benefits for the countries they operate in … royalties, building of infrastructure, employment etc.
In some countries such as China you are probably right. They don’t let mined gold leave the country.
PS I suppose if China was trying to buy out gold mines in the US I’d be against that.

I wonder if it means Spain and China don’t want foreigners taking their metals away and Nevada doesn’t care how many foreign companies take USA metals away. Another way to look at it. USA Oil. We keep ours in the ground, and buy (with fake money) use n waste foreigners oil and just export made in USA consumer products. I think important things like food and fuel should not be exported. Unless we have far more than we need. Then fine, take the profit.
USD and rates moving higher so we’ll have to dig out some gains if we’re going to have a chance at upside.
Charts all look good. GLD is overbought, RSI up at 72. SLV not so much, RSI at 55.
We have a Fed Meeting at the end of the month, Jan. 31st./February 1st. Seems odd to me.
We’ve been fortunate lately not to be getting crushed every time some economic data or Fed speak comes out. Hopefully that continues, it’s been a good rally over the last month or so.
I see what you mean. I think our metals are the greatest threat to the scum and their phony fiat.
I think they’ll do anything to them to prevent them from being a “go to” investment. Selling the SM to force money out of pm’s is a given. If they need to, they’ll do it.
If the USD goes, everything goes with it. JMHO
