I have a Ford hot water heater from 1975 48 years old still working. These days they only last about 10 years. I recently threw out a US made Carrier air conditioner I bought in 1974. They pretty much made things cheaper as the people gradually got poorer, from sharing our jobs to help developing nations or emerging economies, at USA expense, in my view.
In my area they are trying to pass laws to allow more apartments in houses garages sheds etc to increase supply of apartments and get rents lower. They NEVER suggest lower (than what’s needed) wages are the root problem. Minimum wages are way too low, and that holds ALL nonunion wages lower.
The Gov’t needs to support or represent the nonunion workers. I know the anti higher wage argument. “Oh geez a McDonalds burger will cost $12 dollars.” But the more well-off buyers would easily pay it. Those burgers were .15 cents now $2.50, or 17 times more. They SHOULD be 20 X more. The old $1.75 min wage times 20 is $35/hr, what it SHOULD be today.
