So the Missus and I and the pooch are 40 min into our return trip to Washington State after visiting my sister who lives outside Fort Collins, Colorado. We are driving her 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe. We are passing thru Cheyenne Wyoming when the engine starts to act up. The vehicle has a warranty of 100,000 miles and 106,000 miles on the odometer.
Pulling off the freeway there is a Hyundai dealer right there. Some hours later the service manager tells us that the engine is toast … but the good news for us is that there are “known issues” with this engine and even a class action suit going on, and that Hyundai has been replacing these engines for no charge. The upshot is that Hyundai ends up replacing our engine for free and we are on our way again after adding something over a week to our journey.
I applaud Hyundai for standing behind their product. The service people at Ken Garff Hyundai in Cheyenne couldn’t have been more helpful, and the people in Wyoming are very friendly.
I have a thousand things to do today and will be back more completely tomorrow.
Cheers
