from a comment below the article….it seems that the major problem that is driving this move, is if the EV has any kind of impact accident, because there is no means of checking all the cells easily and if there is damage, then the fire risk explodes the Insurers are looking at having to replace the entire battery…..because if they don’t and then the EV goes up, they will/may be liable for all the ancillary damage……like houses, car parks, people etc.
