My grandfather unskilled labor had 8 kids, my father skilled labor had 5 kids, me, unskilled labor had two kids. None of our wives had to go to work. The difference was we made all our needs right here in the USA and the buying power of our low wages was equal to at least $40/hr today.
Our bosses paid taxes we paid higher taxes and we had no national debt.
P.S. The artificially low wages enabled many people to open up businesses and hire cheap help. Create replacement many cheap pay jobs. My friend was one of them. Now these people that prospered, and own 25 “McDonalds” etc each are complaining about the new $20/hr minimum. Tough shit. raise your prices or shut some down.
