Last week our weekly unemployment claims report was a big surprise and showed more job losses than expected. That was a catalyst for a pop. We’ll see how it turns out this week, they’ve ratcheted up the numbers. My friend John was constantly complaining about the cops making too much money. In my county $200,000 and higher is common. So, I told him. You want them to come down? Thats middle class pay today. They are getting what they need. He finally agreed, everybody should make more money like the cops.

$200,000 today divided by 20 is $10,000, the old middle class pay before 1975. The old $2500 new car (with a 3 year loan) times 20 is $50,000 today.  But the lower salaries require a 6 year loan, or a leased car. The old .15 cent slice of pizza? Times 20 in $3 a slice today. The old $2.hr min wages times 20 should be $40/hr today

But with funny money involved, wages have to go up like taxes, gasoline and food etc. Lets face it. Businesses have to pay what the rent costs, the utilities, interest rates etc etc. But to this date, they still DON’T have to pay a livable wage, so they don’t, unless its a strong union.

From 1800 to 1913, even a little later, there was no inflation under a gold standard. No raises needed.

It’s making people seek medical help for symptoms and wanting to know what it is but if it’s a form of pertussis then infants and toddlers need to be protected. No fever seems to be presented either. Whooping cough bug isnt that serious unless respiratory problems in adults and teens but quite serious in infants and toddlers and if they get immediate medical treatment should be okay but if not could suffer like suffocating and die.
