Quiet close to the week?
Gold steadily higher by $10 or so this am. Silver down $.15 mainly because it was up yesterday nicely, so that cannot continue. One of those silly rules we deal with daily.
Dollar and rates giving back some ground as they should, both were way overdone yesterday on data that was weak but the algo’s treated as strong. Dollar was flat earlier but seems to have a little downside momentum in the last hour. 10 yr down 3 bips. Not helping us so much although we did get a move up against a stronger dollar yesterday, so maybe a wash?
SM flat, oil taking it on the chin for 2% back to $76.37. Bitcoin up 1.4% but still below $60K in the $58K range.
There was an article about the vast majority of Bitcoin holders hanging onto their coins. Makes sense because of the immense gains, but also might invite a big shakeout to dislodge some of the players. I’m looking to buy at sub $1. 🙂

Been watching AEM’s chart. Such a steady mover, tracking gold perfectly and making new highs without big selloff’s immediately after. Will you get the doubles and triples like 1% of the juniors do? No, but you won’t be stuck with one of the 99% of the others that go to zero. Greed is a terrible thing, especially in pm shares. Wish I had learned that a long time ago.

According to Globe Newswire (story dated July 9), quarterly earnings were supposed to be disseminated on August 14….
As far as I can see, nothing has been released yet?????The stock is down almost 6% today on only 44,000 shares….

BEIJING, Aug 15 (Reuters) – China will impose export limits on antimony and related elements in the name of national security, its commerce ministry said on Thursday, Beijing’s latest move to restrict shipments of critical minerals in which it is the dominant supplier.
China accounted last year for 48% of global mined output of antimony, a strategic metal used in military applications such as ammunition, infrared missiles, nuclear weapons and night vision goggles, as well as in batteries and photovoltaic equipment.
The restrictions are being imposed “in order to safeguard national security and interests, and fulfill international obligations such as non-proliferation”, the ministry said in a statement.
At a regular weekly briefing on Thursday, the ministry said the curbs were not directed at any specific country or region.
“It’s a sign of the times,” said Christopher Ecclestone, a principal and mining strategist at Hallgarten & Company in London.

Silver has been kind of quiet since it hit $33 a couple of months ago. Holding up pretty well here today even as the dollar tries to inch back up.
I guess I’m sort of looking at pm’s and wondering why they’re up at all over the last week or so. Seems usually we see low volume bleeds.
A big day tomorrow would really make things look interesting.

PM shares a little soft, but they’ve outperformed all week, so no room to complain. NEM still leading. These are a lot better days than we’ve seen over the last few years. Feels like we’re building for a good move higher.
Maybe the Captain has it right about a September high. We shouldn’t have to face tax loss selling this year.
Course my optimism could change with a beat down tomorrow. Lack of volume is still a concern. 😉
