So, we’re in trouble this am. Trying to take gold below $2500. Silver getting smashed. Not sure this is a surprise, since silver was unable to take out $30.

We have the PCE coming out this week, and it will have to read rate cut friendly. Interesting rates are down a little today.
This could be a hit in front of softer numbers, or something worse I guess. Who knows?

one thing to keep in mind, recessions generally start when the inverted yield curve goes back to normal. The longer the yield curve is inverted, the recession is generally deeper and longer. The yield curve has been inverted over 600 days which indicates a long, deep recession.

As bad as I hate to say it, Trump may clear the economic underbrush with an economic forest fire. That may explain the phiz/stock debacle. Nobody wants paper of any kind when the fan gets really dirty in the midst of the big fire.

So, door #2 – the war option seems plausible, plus an economy in ruins.

As President, they will use every legal measure possible to stop everything he does. The thing is, the last two elections should have been huge red waves, and this one should be as well. But it won’t, they’ll make sure Congress is in opposition to him.

What a mess. The best possible scenario in my mind would be red states seceding from the US, making DC obsolete. What a time to be alive. At the end of the day, I believe God is in control and all will be according to his plan.

yeah, shares being sat on, the metals a bit too since last week. Dollar heading down in earnest now, so not sure why the shares aren’t leading the metals. I suppose since the volume is so anemic they can sort of move these things anyway they want. Shares should definitely be doing better though.

Armstrong said something interesting about gold/dollar/bonds – said if we get into a bigger war that they hand over to Trump, he thought we’d default on our bonds. You could totally see them handing Trump a complete sh*tshow if he’s elected. If we even have an election and they don’t have some sort of “IT” outage like they had here a few weeks ago.

Seems like there might not be any big moves either way this week. A little back & forth.

Quiet this am. Most everything is flat. Dollar, SM, rates, oil down 1/2%, Bitcoin down 1%, PM’s – silver flat, gold down a few bucks but nothing crazy, pm shares flat. No eco data of interest today, we have the PCE later this week, but everyone seems content to sit still.

I suppose that unless something big surprises everyone, it will probably be boring.

Kunstler had a good article on ZH yesterday, spot on.

Local winds maybe 35mph. Rather sheltered at my place.  Hurricane barely made 85mph but that circulation was offshore.  Our two big 14,000 ft mountains are ‘hurricane busters’.  They cannot come ashore.  In a close pass like this one, the mountains scrape the rain circulation off the north side of the storm…. and dump on us.  The lava rock drains well and has established runoff channels.  Overall we get 150 inches of rain annually on this part of the island.

Hurricane HONE passing south point of the Big Island.  I’m under that big orange blob on the NE quadrant as it slams into Mauna Loa and dumps 22 inches of rain in 24 hours here.  Several power outages overnight at my location. Ham radio works!  Draining out today.  We survived.
