If the Cap’n’s commies were in charge of the system, tinkering with it only lets them run circles around you. Tariffs are breaking the system externally to the US so they have very little influence. PPT, interest rates, labor laws, SEC rules etc can’t be used to fight back. But as someone mentioned earlier (Cap’n?) you’ve got to do it early to give yourself chance to rebuild before the mid-terms.

So, was the sledgehammer too heavy? Is there actually a more refined plan rather than the extremely crude imposts made on Wednesday? And why is Norfolk Is slammed with 29% tariffs when it’s never exported anything to the US (or anywhere else for that matter) and has no import tariffs at all? Mainly because it has nothing to export; it’s dependent on Govt. handouts and tourism (for the newly weds and nearly deads) for its existence. It doesn’t even have a VAT. Oh, and its strategic location …. – the whole tariff structure stinks of a random number generator.

China will adjust import and export tariffs on selected goods in 2024 in a bid to support high-quality development and opening up and accelerate the building of innovation patterns, the Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council (the ‘Commission’) said on Wednesday, December 20, 2023.

In 2024, China will impose tariffs on 8,957 tax items.

Starting from January 1, 2024, 1,010 items, including certain medical products, key equipment and parts, resources in short supply, and some agriculture products, will be subject to provisional import tariff rates, which are lower than the most favored nation (MFN) tariffs.

Starting from January 1, 2024, import tariffs on some commodities will be raised to assist with the development of domestic industry and cope with changes in supply and demand. Examples include ethylene, propylene, and liquid crystal glass substrates below 6 generations.

The conventional tariff rates will be applied to imported goods originating from 30 countries or regions, under the 20 free trade agreements and preferential trade arrangements that have been signed and entered into force between China and relevant countries or regions.

The preferential tariff rates will continue to be applied to 43 least-developed countries that have established diplomatic relations with China and completed the exchange of documents, to support and help the least-developed countries accelerate their development. The zero tariff treatment for Vanuatu will be ceased.
The tariff quota management will continue to be implemented on eight categories of commodities including wheat, and the tax rates will remain unchanged.

Export tariffs will be imposed on 107 commodities, including ferrochrome, 68 of which are subjected to provisional export tariff rates.

Hi…sri I wasn’t clear…..what I mean by 50/66 % is how much of the chart is on the screen……normally the chart will fill the screen, but I find if I just post that chart, when the Tent puts it up the end will not be seen…….so what I do is left click in the chart window and drag the chart to the left, so the chart ends up ending at @ 50 to 66 % of the screen and copy link that ……yr system may not do this…so try and post a chart and preview it…if it comes out ok…then no bother…if it does as mine does then etc….

top right hand corner on Trading view, you will see an image of a camera, right next to the Publish button…..left click that and u get a drop down menu….click Copy Link…..before u do that you may want to end the chart at around 50 to 66 % of the screen…..or when you post the end of the chart will be off screen.

Then go to the Tent, click the IMG button and paste the link into the box that opens….u will then be asked to name the link…give it any old name ….

Click preview to see how it opens in the Tent…..if ok post it, if not u may have to start again…with the end of yr chart @ 50 % across the Trading View screen.
