They are a founding member, if they leave then turn the lights out on EU…it will be total chaos….eg How do u divide up all the liabilities inside the ECB, that Draghi has taken on, with his QE programme. Loads more probs just as big or worse.
That said I doubt Renzi will resign, if he loses, as that will trigger the above , if 5 Star and Northern League form next gu’mint…so Junker and the boys will tell him to ride it out, he will hang on and hope etc…..
But we do get to see how popular 5 Star and Northern League are…my guess, is v v popular. So whenever next election occurs, the Shit will really hit the fan…if Le Pen hasn’t already caused it.
In short EU is staggering from one vote to next, pretending all is well, when they know full well the Anti’s are growing fast, everywhere, and they have had it with the EU…..Brexit was baaaad….but either Italy or France will sink it v soon….or it could be Holland
