Some time back I noticed they tightened their billing cycle to give the consumer only 21 days from issue of bill to pay. Always pressure with the paper bill to sign up for ‘Auto Pay’, but I will NOT let them access my bank account for payments. So they penalize the ‘paper bill’ user with tight payment deadlines. I always pay my bill when it arrives, and it goes out with the postal carrier the next day. This month I was slapped with a $6 ‘late fee’ for doing just that. In checking, the bill date printed is the 4th. There is no postmark date stamp on these ‘Presort First Class’ envelopes, so I have no idea how long my bill languished at the billing office before being given to the post office. But it does NOT take two weeks for a first class letter to get here from the mainland, but…. here comes my bill on the 18th, with a due date of the 25th, and the boilerplate warning that it can take “up to 7 days to process” (so be sure to mail early!)
I get the bill with only 7 days before due, send it out the next day, and chances are it will arrive in time…. but the A$$#0les have a documented excuse to hold the incoming bills for “up to 7 days to process” so they can slap on the late charge. I’m done with these corporate scammers.
Consumer Cellular here I come! Phone service for half what I am paying now. But wait…. they need for AT&T to ‘Unlock’ my phone from AT&T so I can change. Of course this cannot be done at the ‘Full Service’ AT&T store downtown. I have to go to the internet and jump thru a bunch of complicated digital hoops to backup & restore my phone after they approve removing the ‘lock’. Five hours later and innumerable “Failed Backup” warnings, I think I finally unlocked my phone and got it restored.
I am SOOO done with AT&T !
