and my stepdaughter in Colombia is a medical doctor who contracted TB from a patient . The symptoms are similar , but in her case the infection was bacterial , so antibiotics were effective , but she had a tough time of it for a while . During that time she was hospitalized and fluid had to removed from her lungs a few times each day .
A former colleague had viral pneumonia in the late 1960’s . Three weeks of his life essentially disappeared – slept all the time ( induced coma ?) . All he could recall was being awakened while they inserted a needle between his ribs and into his lungs to draw off about a quarter liter of fluid a few times a day .
