Someone I know told me yesterday that with rising prices here and obligations in a separation with child support involved that he got a roommate for his extra bedroom in a duplex he’s renting. He didn’t do a credit check or background check and the guys income was disability but found out later not from physical but mental issues and came from a half way house. Too late to tell him why I check on them are you crazy?!!
Now this guy only pays a quarter of already low rent and blows the rest of his money for the room in a nice place, runs the electricity and air all day because he doesn’t work and gets into his personal things like food, shampoo like he’s a guest and even guest don’t do that besides what’s offered but get their own. Plus he makes racket all night and he has to get some sleep because he has a job.
It’s costing him more with this bum hanging around there than if he didn’t rent it.
He told him to get out, gave him a month or he’s gonna pack up his things and put him out. Because of landlord about they made laws protecting renters that now caused problems on that side by taking advantage and not paying rent and not moving could take as long as six months for a court date and could take months in court getting them out. But the only thing once they get a eviction no one wants to rent to them for 7 years. The guy needs a mommy and needs to go back to the half way house, he’s a menace to society.
That’s another thing people are gonna have to be real careful of. Doesn’t even have to be a renter if you take someone in as a guest at guest request by someone else and I did that before a big mistake but check the laws in your state for how long they can stay before there considered a renter. It could be as little as one week.
