My ‘thing’ is gas solubility in water after publishing one of two large reports through EPRI.
As a result of being the PI (principal investigator) and assembling input from several colleagues relative to control of oxygen in the secondary systems of PWR’s (Pressurized Water Reactors) [EPRI NP-3020 – about 500 pages] , I enhanced my understanding of gases being absorbed in water.
As a result , when this Carbon farce came along , I went back to my third grade understanding of photosynthesis , and did some digging online .
Here is a brief overview :
Carbon dioxide is essential to photosynthesis and therefore plant health.
– current atmospheric concentration is about 350 ppm.
– below 100 ppm plants die (and life on earth with them).
– optimal for plant growth rate and crop yields is 1200 to 1500 ppm.
– some greenhouses boost CO2 to about double the current atmospheric levels.
– in nature , in temperate zones the solubility of CO2 doubles as winter approaches.
– rain droplet size decreases as weather gets cooler and leaves are falling.
– rain droplets become more spherical in cold weather .
– the ratio of surface area to contained volume increases exponentialy as winter nears.
– the smaller the droplets , the slower they fall , increasing solubility contact time.
– late fall runoff , rich in CO2 is sequestered in surface waters,
– as spring arrives , trees bud and plant life returns , seeking atmospheric CO2.
– surface waters offgas CO2 to meet the need , as water temperature rises.
In my view , the Creator planned it that way.
