You are of course quite right about the danger of hurricanes. I probably should not have made a joke about it just being a windy day. Perhaps I could blame the show Death In Paradise where the Brit has no clue about Caribbean hurricanes.
In fact, though we were over 300 miles away from the primary edge of Helene since we live in an area with large numbers of plantation oaks some of which like water oaks are shallow rooted many fell. We had had about 17 inches of rain before and the ground was still saturated allowing the water oaks and others to simply pivot on their shallow root balls. We have a couple of trees that we planted which still okay and been tilted through one hurricane or another. In any case several houses were crushed in part by falling trees. Very dangerous. The streets are littered with fallen limbs and some trees
The amazing thing about hurricanes is just a day or two after the devastation it is a beautiful day.
