Normally, in a similar situation involving a friend or spouse hopelessly arguing to no end, the SMARTER of the two is supposed to give up. (tell your wife that) And or, if one calls in a domestic dispute to the police, the cop comes over and decides which one, husband or wife, has to leave the home.
