the lyrics to la bamba are not really meaningful.  it’s just a killer rock and roll song with a compelling rhythm and beat.  lots of rock and roll lyrics don’t carry much meaning.  consider “louie, louie.”  that’s not what rock and roll was about.

you want meaningfull lyrics, fast forward a couple years to baez and dylan.
